Hunting Down Design

After we gathered, we started looking for solution of the assignment. We decided to start with clue number 3.Furthermore we continued with clue number 5,4 and then 1 and 2.
Clue 3
The design of the building includes a white, large grid meant to suggest scaffolding.
Clue 5
This building was built for 2 years. After 6 months it was fulled with books and opened.
Clue 4

After we solved the first two problems we went straight to SEL Math Tower. I saw that there were no windows on the first floor.
Clue 1
After clue 4 we went in Knowton Hall. We saw the Barcelona chair and we took a picture of it.  It was designed by Mies van der Rohe. The materials used for this chair are chrome on steel frame and leather cushions filled with PU-foam.
Clue 2
And our hunting ended while I was sitting comfortably in this UP1 Armchair. I was reading Azure magazine. This chair was designed by Gaetano Pesce. The chair consists of polyurethane foam of a precisely controlled density, with a stretch nylon and wool jersey cover.

Course Reflection

Lecture 5 was my first lecture. I was worried that I missed a lot and I will have huge difficulties. However, Mr.Tippery showed me that everything is fine. He showed me what I've missed and helped me understand everything. Furthermore, the first video that I saw was amazing. I have never thought that design could be so interesting. The video was about this company that had to design the new shop cart. It was so amazing how they split and came out with so different ideas, combining the needs and the nice look. After the class I felt like this is the job that I want to work.
I was so excited about the next class. We talked about the accessibility and I read some interesting statistics. I saw some examples of what my major does. After this week I really liked being part of this class. On Monday we did the scavenger hunt, but more about it is posted in my blog. I found it exciting. The opportunity to "hunt" for design is amazing. I really like that we were not just sitting in the lecture room but exploring. The lecture on Wednesday was interesting too. I have never thought that I am so interested in the environment and I didn't know that designers are helping to protect it. I have seen some TED videos before, but the creating of the bottle that filters the water is great. I found this as most interesting video of all others. Overall, I think that these two weeks were amazing. I have never had this type of class and I find it really cool.

Found Faces

The door in the bathroom in the gym. ( :P )

The door in my building. ( :O )
I have no idea what is that but it looks like a face to me ( :| )

The hang in the locker room. ( like an alien)

The plug in the gym. ( :O )

The plug in my bath ( ;O )

I saw it when walking on campus. ( :) )

My lock  ( :/ )

Reading Reflection 01

From what I read I understood the basics of the design and what exactly is design. It was really interesting for me to find out how the design changed the entire world. It is really surprising to see that everything around you is made and designed by someone else.
I like the second chapter where the author is explaining about the historical evolution of design. It is amazing that the human kind is designing tools that should maximize the efficiency of the hand. It is amazing that our hands can do so many things. When I read that part I realized that our hands are not designed but still they are the perfect tool.I like how the author is thinking about the design. This thought really makes me think in different way :"objects are not just expressions of a solution to a particular problem at any point in time, but can extend much further, into embodying ideas about how life can be lived in a dynamic process of innovation and refinement beyond the constraints of time and place."
Also, it is amazing how designers are improving old things in order to make them better. For example the technologies are getting smaller but more efficient. From old big laptops with ugly shape, we have tiny powerful laptops with cool form and look.
I think that this book is really good source of knowledge.I didn't know that A very short introduction is a series of interesting topics for which you can find an explanation and details.Furthermore,I like the design of the book. It has nice paper and look.

Peer Dialogue 01

For my first Peer Dialogue I decided to look in random blogs. I really enjoyed to see what my classmates already posted. Honestly, I took some ideas from other blogs and when I have difficulty in starting a new post I just look at others posts.
While I was looking at the blogs I really enjoyed Dan's Design Blog. (http://dancsp11.blogspot.com/).
I like his patterns and the way he explained what he likes in them. My favourite two patterns that he posted are the one with the bricks and the one with the chair. In the beginning when I was just looking at his posts I saw the picture of the bricks and realized that I have posted a brick picture too. Furthermore, I like his chair pattern picture. The way that these colors are arranged and their depth makes the chair amazing.
Also, I think he did a great job with the designer investigation assignment. The way he organized his post is awesome. I really like how he put designers pictures and the years when they were born.
The other blog that I like is Aggie's. (http://agerhardt7design200.blogspot.com/). The first thing that I always see in a blog is the pictures and especially the patterns assignment ones. When I opened her blog I saw them and I think that they are amazing. All of them, I like them so much. I don't know how did she captured the pictures and what kind of camera is she using but I think that she did this assignment perfectly. I was thrilled to look at her other posts.I enjoyed reading at her post about the first four lectures. The way she wrote them gave me a perfect explanation to some things that I missed while I was away.Especially the explanation about what she felt after her lectures :"my mind has been stretched to think abstractly and it is only approaching the third week." is the same that I felt after my first one.
All blogs are amazing but I think that these two are the best.

Patterns

Actually this is how my pillow look like. I really like the arrangement of the colors and the white stripe which separates them.

This is how my blanket look like. I like the intensity and the depth of the colors

I found this while I was walking on campus. I like the white color of the tree's leafs.
Also, I found this look while I was walking on campus. I like the way that the flowers and the grass is making this picture amazing.
I found this look while I was entering my apartment. This is how the walls where I live look like. I like the arrangement of the forms that make this picture complete.
This is my favourite hoody. I like how these scattered figures make this hoody looks cool.
I found this on my bread label. While I was looking at it I saw it and decided to take picture of it.
